Our story begins in 1972, when the property first opened its doors as The Royal Inn, one of the original non-Disney-operated hotels on Walt Disney World® grounds. It quickly became a favorite among visitors seeking affordable luxury near the newly minted Magic Kingdom®. In the mid-1970s, it was rebranded as the Hotel Royal Plaza, a name that evoked grandeur and hosted legends like Bert Reynolds and Bob Hope in its signature suites. Over the years, the hotel weathered ownership transitions, including acquisitions by notable figures and firms in the 1990s and early 2000s, each adding layers of resilience and charm.
Fast-forward to 2026, and our property has undergone its most transformative evolution yet—a $30 million renovation that reimagined every corner, culminating in our debut as the Renaissance Orlando Resort & Spa. As an Official Walt Disney World® Hotel, we blend the timeless allure of Disney with the sophisticated style of Marriott’s Renaissance brand.
